Those were the first few months of my married life. I was getting too tired with new responsibilities. Cooking, cleaning, house management maids management, ironing his shirts … household work took much of my energy . And college work, NSS camps, social work field work, travelling by bus to meet the two ends, and financial burdens swallowed my stamina.
But never did I complain nor sought to unburden myself with short cut methods or other ways.
One day the burden was too much on me , I just knelt down and wept at His feet. That’s all for I did not know how to pray, or what to pray to lighten my burden. Everything is important, work at home to make him comfortable and happy, and the work at college can’t be escaped for I am accustomed to obey my authorities.
In those days when I got the job I prayed for the management, then God spoke to me through these verses.
16..Woe to you, O land whose king was a servant and whose princes feast in the morning.
God reminded me that my management does not feast in the morning but pray in the church. And they are from rich and educated strata of the community. They are trained as nuns. BEING CALLED BY God to do His service.
This gave me joy to work under them.
And another time God guided me like this about my job.
04..If a ruler’s anger rises against you, do not leave your post; calmness can lay great errors to rest.
That verse from the Holy Scriptures gave me guidelines to my life. in my conduct in my job.
While I was struggling with new burdens and mundane things I was crushed physically.
That morning not knowing what to pray for I had to pray, I just knelt down in His presence in tears, drenching His feet.
In such times the Holy Spirit intercedes on behalf of us. The following incident was the best example to my tearful pleas.
26..In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
27..And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
Romans 8 :26,27
That is exactly what happened that day. God spoke to me through this verse in my quiet time of worship before I go to college..
07..The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
By the time I reached the college God prepared the ground to redeem me from my burden.
As soon as I entered the campus I went to sign in the register. The clerk nearby informed me that Sr. Principal asked me to meet her immediately. So I ran into her chamber, as soon as she saw me she said, ” Miss this is your third year working as NSS. Officer right ?”
She asked me, without any other pep talk. I said ” Yes, Sister”
Then she quipped quickly ” Why don’t we give this post to somebody else? What if you resign this post of NSS officer ?”
I just nodded my head and said ” Yes, Sister”
After taking leave from her I immediately went into the office and asked for a white sheet of paper from the same clerk who told me about the summons of Sr. Principal a few minutes back. I wrote my resignation letter and immediately went to the principal and handed it over to her., within 10 minutes of time.
Actually being a Lecturer in Social work it’s my duty to take up the responsibility of NSS work.
I don’t know what made her to unburden me from that work.
After a few years when I replayed that incident, I remember I saw great astonishment in the eyes of Sr. Principal when I handed over the resignation letter to her.
It seemed like she never expected me to leave such a prestigious post which brings upliftment to me both financially and socially. She must be astonished by my immediate obedience too, without asking a question.
When God intended to do wonders in our life He prepared us beforehand by making us PRAY and OBEY. when we don’t know how to pray He sends His Holy Spirit to intercede on behalf of us. When you are distressed, need someone to speak with, or some there to give advice to you, GO into the presence of God. That is all you need to do, the rest will be taken care of by Him. His Spirit will lead you from there . That is the mystery of the prayer. That is the power of the prayer. JUST GO INTO THE PRESENCE OF JESUS.
